Dear Speakers, dear colleagues, dear circus practitioners, dear students,
after an intense year of preparations and three conference days of interesting lectures, short, but stimulating discussions and fruitful conversation, it is now time for me to thank you all for helping us to realize this event. We have been honoured and gratified to hear your thoughts on circus and space and we hope, that you are able to take the positive energy of the rich professional and personal connections made as you shared your research and experience and share it with others around you as you take your next steps! In order to be able to do so, you will find the presenters’ and organizers’ contact information in the attached Excel file. Let’s all do stay in touch and nourish the explorations!
Talking about next steps, I would like to give you a brief preview of the future undertakings of the project Zirkus | Wissenschaft and explain how you will be able to access the content-related outcome of the conference.
Publication
First of all, we are in the process of finalizing the manuscript of our publication, which will include contributions from both conferences: Semiotics of the Circus and UpSideDown. You can look forward to an inspiring volume of articles from renowned researchers and from academic newcomers and artists.
Graphic Novel
Secondly, we have been in touch with several publishers of comic books to be able to realize a graphic novel as the conference report of ‘UpSideDown’. Thus all pictures which have been drawn during the last days are going to be made accessible via a Graphic Novel. With this step, we would like to ensure, that our academic discourse doesn’t stay in an ivory tower, but is made accessible to all circus professionals and artists.
Zirkus | Wissenschaft Exhibition
Furthermore the pictures are going to be transformed into a weather-proof exhibition, which will be able to travel to international circus conferences.
Kulturproleten
Moreover we would like to share the contents of UpSideDown with the student body. We are therefore going to publish 5 articles – one for each panel – on the blog www.kulturproleten.de. In these articles, the students of this semester’s seminar will unfold their thoughts on circus and space based on the presentations.
