News from Barcelona and Buenos Aires

Hello!

We hope you are really well. We’ve started the year with a lot of work, interesting projects and the desire to continue helping brands and projects develop a critical and enriching perspective, even though much of the world seems to be going in the opposite direction.

We try to ensure that this newsletter brings ideas and recommendations that help to continue fostering interest, curiosity and reflection. We hope it is useful to you.

Greetings from Barcelona and Buenos Aires,

Gabriela and Ximena

Since SemioticaStudio was set up fifteen years ago, we have always intended to give courses on semiotics applied to communication. We are finally offering a course in Spanish, for those that seek to handle the nuances of meaning in their mother tongue. There are 4 live meetings (they are recorded in case you can’t attend one), and you can find all the information here: SEMIÓTICA APLICADA A LA COMUNICACIÓN DE MARCA Y PROYECTOS.

The Local Eye – Exclusive Recommendations

One of our favorite bookstores in Buenos Aires, Musaraña Libros (whose bookseller and founder was Gabriela’s student a long, long time ago) has teamed up with Archivo Textil to found “Artefacto, textos y textiles” in Tilcara, Jujuy, in northern Argentina. A wonderful cultural space in a unique and different environment. They also serve coffee and vermouth (produced by them). If you are in the area, be sure to pay them a visit.

We recently gave a live talk in Spanish to explain what we do at SemioticaStudio and share some of our projects from recent years. We’ll leave you the video so you can watch it whenever you like (it has English subtitles if you click that option).

We have been working on:

* Yogurts (communication and naming) in Spain

* Moderation in alcohol consumption in Mexico

* Naming of alcoholic beverages in the USA

* Washing and cleaning codes in Brazil

* Semiotic analysis of packs for legal disputes

* Wellbeing and movement in Brazil and Mexico

* Applied semiotics training in Colombia.

At SemioticaStudio, we help to provide an in-depth understanding of the worlds in which people live, from the perspective of semiotics and cultural analysis. We work on the evaluation and development of concepts and narratives.
